Following the success of their exclusive Villa Maison Noir in Hout Bay, Cape Town, Jim Brett and Ed Gray embarked on a new venture to create a sister property that echoes the same sanctuary-like essence. With a wealth of interior design experience and a passion for art, the couple set out to transform a drab '70s-style building into the chic and calming Villa Verte. Nestled among the trees and bordering the Oudekraal Nature Reserve, this impressive space showcases exceptional furniture design, artwork, and craft. Architectural Design and Concept
To bring their vision to life, Jim and Ed enlisted the talents of local architect Thomas Leach. Inspired by the "village" structure of Villa Maison Noir, Villa Verte's design also incorporates five peaked roofs, symbolizing the five elements. The villa masterfully combines private and open spaces, with secluded rooms cantilevered into the trees, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Expansive interior living spaces invite guests to unwind and breathe.
Curves and circles are central to the villa's design, representing equality, inclusivity, unity, sustainability, and the circle of life. These organic forms, along with a soothing color palette, wallpaper, and fabric textures, create a comforting and inspiring atmosphere.
Unique Interior Treatments and Custom Wallpaper
Each of the four suites at Villa Verte boasts a unique interior treatment, outlook, and layout. Custom wallpaper by Cara Saven transforms each space into a cocoon of flowers or foliage. Freestanding bathtubs and showers with a view ensure even the bathrooms offer a striking experience of the surroundings. The balconies leading out from each room allow guests to sit among the trees.
